the weekend after thanksgiving, we headed up to the mountains to get a christmas tree with our friends nicole and bob - we took nicki's newphew chase along for the ride. with the tree up, and the stockings hung by the chimney with care, we are ready to snuggle up by the fire and enjoy our first christmas in our new home
They meet, they fall in love, they buy a house...this is the story of one couple turning a little 1924 bungalow on Queen Anne into their home.
We hope that you enjoy the journey right along with us

plumbing issues
this past weekend we discovered that our bathroom sink wasn't draining properly - the culprit? an 84 year old plumbing pipe. the solution? brian the plumber to the rescue. even though joe the plumber lives right down the street, we (brian) decided that this problem could be fixed by us (brian). well, the weekend resulted in a fixed bathroom sink and even a new toilet (that was falling apart too). my man is so handy! but, we also almost tore down a wall getting to those dang pipes - enjoy the pics because i get to see it every day :)

still bits-o-chaos
cleaning the basement meant no room to put all of our stuff, so most of it remained strewn about the upstairs for the first couple weeks...

there were a couple rooms that i was determined to get organized - bedroom and kitchen (well brian's bedroom, mine is the one at the back of the house and that still remains a mess).

basement work
ew! basements are pretty gross, espcially when they haven't been cleaned since 1924 (ok, maybe a bit of an exageration). Labor day weekend was full of basement labor - wee took the basement from this gross rainbow madness:

I heart yard work!
The new house came with weeds - ew!
Before
This weekend was spent clearing the probably 5 years worth of overgrown weeds (blackberry bushes, ivy, and other various ugly plants). Together we cleared nearly 600lbs of yard waste. We took a very FULL truck load of goodies to the dump on Sunday afternoon after two days lopping, chopping, whacking, trimming, clipping and weeding.
We also managed to spend a pretty penny at Home Depot (our new favorite date spot) on gardening tools, new locks for the front door, and a garbage disposal.
More clean-up this week before the actual moving begins...

Access Granted
After a long LONG wait, the deal finally went through and we got our keys. We headed over there last night with a rustic picnic of cheese, meat, bread, and of course champagne. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the view; but it was hard to sit still when there is so much to explore. Our heads were spinning as we thought of all the fun changes that we can make to the house to make it truly ours. Erika and Clint also joined us for a celebratory drink and helped with brainstorming.
Let the fun begin....moving begins this weekend!
